Places for 150 pioneer students in AUCMS MD programme
Allianze University College of Medical Sciences (AUCMS) will be offering places to the first batch of its Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree programme students. Its president, Datuk Dr Zainuddin Wazir, said the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) and Higher Education Ministry have approved the inaugural programme, known as MD AUCMS.{AF}"We will take in 150 pioneer students who aspire to have a medical degree beginning this month," said Datuk Zainuddin at AUCMS Hari Raya Open House here recently.{/AF}
Dr Zainuddin said AUCMS is awaiting the green light from the MQA to kickstart some of its degree courses, possibly by the end of this year.
He said that the nursing faculty at AUCMS was also recognised by MQA and the ministry, resulting in its graduates getting postings at various public and private hospitals nationwide.
The Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail and his consort, Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, were the guests of honour at the open house.
The royal couple were on hand to fill up the lemang (bamboo) with pulut (glutinous rice) during a special ceremony on stage at AUCMS Waziria Medical Square.
Zainuddin also wooed the crowd with a rendition of M. Nasir's hit song, Satu Hari di Hari Raya.
Also present were Zainuddin's wife, Datin Faridah Nazir, and Prof Datuk Mohd Abd Razak.
Some 1,000 staff and students were treated to a sumptuous buffet and entertained by local singers. -- By Phuah Ken Lin
