Foundation of Medical Studies Explorace 2011
How do one educate several groups of students on the meaning of teamwork and at the same time give them a ‘compass bearing’ to survive in a strange and unfamiliar world called university? The answer is to organize a fun and educational hunt or explorace around campus. To achieve this objective the Faculty of Medicine commissioned a group of senior medical students to organize the Premedical Explorace 2011. The target is to break the ice among all the students in the faculty and teach them the spirit of teamwork. The participants in the race includes MD UKM batch 2009/2010 & 2010/2011, Foundation in Science batch April & July 2010. A total of 18 stations were set-up at various locations in Putra Villas Hostel. The students were divided into several teams and we give tasks to complete in order to progress to the next station. Some of the tasks are educational, challenging and at times foolishly extreme. The tasks were associated with the theme medicine. Some of the activities assigned to participants are such as matching pictures of bones with names and counting worms, drinking garlic, ginger n bitter gourd shake.
Regardless of gender and group, all the students had spent a real quality time with their mates and future comrades in the field of medical. Obviously this is an effective way for student to have good, clean and healthy fun while having the opportunity to make new friends and explore the campus.
