The main purpose of celebrating Tadau Kaamatan for the Kadazan Dusun is to give thanks to the gods and spirits for. It is also a festival where the people seek guidance and blessing from god in their future undertakings. They dance and drink amidst much merrymaking while wearing their traditional costumes is enjoyed in a carnival-like atmosphere, which usually stretches from dawn to dawn.
This year for the first time ever, the community in Allianze University College of Medical Sciences had the privilege to experience Tadau Kaamatan on campus. The campus community who were present enjoyed the festival immensely though the celebration is at a fraction in magnitude and size as compared to the usual harvest festival celebrated in Sabah. In essence, a member of the Borneo Club, Cory Binsonis were pleased that over 200 students from Sabah have showed that they have embodied the spirit of Tadau Kaamatan. Through this celebration they displayed true camaraderie. All of them are very thankful of the blessings and guidance given to them in their journey of acquiring knowledge in medical and health sciences.
