Seminar AUCMS with School Counselors in Sandakan,Sabah.

If you are interested to pursue careers in medical field but shy away because you did not study pure science in secondary school, rest assured that you still have a chance at Allianze University College of Medical Sciences. In fact, there are several programs to choose from. In a one-day seminar with School Counsellors in Sandakan, Sabah recently Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohamad Abd Razak the Vice-Chancellor of Allianze University College of Medical Sciences revealed the pathways for SPM candidates in non-pure science stream. The Allianze University College of Medical Sciences organized a seminar for school counsellors at the Swiss Inn Hotel, Sandakan on 24th May 2011. More than 45 school counsellors from secondary schools around Sandakan were present. The seminar was officially opened by the Director of Education Sabah, Datuk Dr. Muhiddin Yussin.The Director supports the initiative of AUCMS in organizing the Career Seminar for School Counselors. This seminar is a platform for AUCMS, school counselors and Education Department to increase awareness among counselors about career pathway in the medical and allied health sciences. This type of information is especially helpful to the counsellors to advise students who may want to be part of a promising and lucrative career in the medical field but is daunted by the qualification requirements, cost and length of study required.

Traditionally, people think that only pure science students are allowed to pursue careers in medical field. The truth is as long as they have studied general science they can apply for various courses ranging from nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy, medical lab technology or medical sciences. All these programs will lead them to a bright career in medical or to be more precise allied health science fields.
