In conjunction with the International Nurses Day 2011 on 12th May 2011, the Malaysian Nurses Association organized the INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY 2011 AND SEMINAR at the Shah Alam Convention Centre. The President of Malaysian Nurses Association who is also the Director of Nursing at Allianze University College of Medical Sciences Dame Hajjah Ramziah Hj Ahmad delivered the welcoming speech in the seminar. It is followed by a speech from the Director of Nursing, Ministry of Health Malaysia, Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Hajjah Fathilah Hj.Abd Wahab who enlightened the audience with current information about the world of nurses in Malaysia.

The one day seminar was officially launched by Dr. Corrine Martine Monique Capuano, World Health Organization (WHO) representative to Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore. Dr. Capuano also delivered a keynote address entitled “Closing the gap: Increasing Access and Equity”. Several key and renowned speakers and nurse practitioners were invited to deliver speeches and be panel members of the forums in the seminar. The seminar was attended by 2,400 nurses from all over Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak.
