In the end it was all worth when they won second place after losing to Universiti Sains Malaysia, 13-3.
Team leader, Darwisa Mudjahirin said that they felt a little sad for not becoming the champion of the tournament but they were still glad and honored to win the second place after competing with seven other seven public and private educational institutes.
“We are the only private institution who were among the winners. The third place went to Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).It seems like our standard is as equal as the other two public universities,” she said.
She commented that the group faced some difficulties since they normally practiced on field, but the tournament was played on court and they are not used to this surface and on top of that during the game, it was raining non-stop. So, they had to be extra careful.
“We had to make sure that none of us fell down or got injured until the end of the game but I must say that it was definitely a good experience for us to play in the rain and still manage to score in all the games except when competing against USM.
Darwisa, a former Perlis state player, said that she played the GS (goal shooter’s) position and added that she and her other team members aimed to become the champion in the tournament, but in order to do so they still needed to practice more to improve their understanding of the game and their movements.
All the teams were divided into three categories: Group A, Group B and Group C. Each of the categories consisted of 8 public and private institutes.
Darwisa and her team won RM500 and a medal each.
Meanwhile, as for the Futsal Tournament, AUCMS had sent two teams, Team ‘A’ and Team ‘B’. Team ‘A’ won the fourth place.
Team ‘B’ captain, Abdul Malik As’har said that he and his team were over confident but sadly it led to their defeat.
“We used to play before and win in our games but maybe in this tournament it was our over confidence that saw us losing.
“Actually, we were supposed to have played yesterday (Saturday) but the organizer’s postponed to today because it was raining heavily yesterday and it could affect our game. So I guess we are kind of frustrated as we were all prepared to play yesterday. But then again maybe it is not our luck too,” he added.
Malik also mentioned that he and his other team members are not so happy with the organizer’s PSP, as they had sent eight teams for the tournament.
“They might have just had the tournament competing among themselves, why should they invite us?,” he said jokingly.
