“We don’t really care if we lose this game, after all, we are just playing for fun,” said a netball team leader.
Nurul Nadia Roslan, on behalf of her team, said that they will not give up playing the game and promised to keep on practicing and hope to join another tournament as organized recently by the AUCMS Netball Club.
She said that her team had won the ‘Best group’ among the other four groups and that was because of the commitment that they showed towards the end of the tournament.
Meanwhile, the champion of the tournament was a group of students from the School of Physiotherapy and they called themselves as ‘Physiotherapy A’.
The leader of the team and also Perlis state player, Darwisa Mudjahirin, who also won the individual award of ‘Best scorer’, said that she and her team consisting of ten members, trained the last three days before the game as their preparation.
Meanwhile the second place winner were the nursing students lead by Maizatul Akmal Marzuki, who also won the individual award for ‘Best Center’.
A final year student, Maizatul said that she had been playing netball since she was still in her primary school and she was once a Pahang state player, which is where her hometown is situated.
She added by saying that she used to represent AUCMS in netball tournaments that were organized by the Sport Complex and Masterskill College and that she will use her experience to teach her team members.
AUCMS Netball Club Advisor, Mas Emilia Mat Lazim said that the club received positive response from the students and at the end of the activity, they identified about 25 students who have the potential to represent this college in the upcoming tournament due to be held in March this year.
“With our team now, I am confident enough to say that AUCMS Netball Club will prove to other public and private education institutions that our students are active in sports too besides being excellent academic achievers,” she said.
Held at Bandar Putra Bertam’s playground field on 29 January, the event started at 9a.m. and finished by noon and the winner of the game received cash money of RM250, followed by the second place winner, RM150 and RM100 for the third place winner. Each of the groups also won themselves a hamper each.
