Dr Zainuddin said aspiring doctors could strive to secure their medical degree at an affordable cost by enrolling in AUCMS instead of spending their training period abroad.
.
The unique part of the AUCMS twinning programmes are that the students undergo clinical training at more than six government hospitals in the northern states.
.
"We make sure that our students not only are trained to become medical doctors but also outstanding physicians who are proactive and have strong leadership traits."
.
Dr Zainuddin said the medical programmes were moulded from his personal career path.
.
"I did my first degree at UKM and completed my Master's degree in surgery, also at UKM.
.
"After gaining valuable experiences serving in the government sector, I pursued my sub-speciality in cardiotheraphy in Australia and worked there to gain more experience."
.
The route turned to be a success story for Dr Zainuddin as he climbed the career path and becomes a renowned specialist heart surgeon.
.
Dr Zainuddin has contributed significantly to the medical industry and was instrumental in the setting up of a modern heart centre at the Penang General Hospital.
.
He is the current president of Malaysian Association for Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery.
Dr Zainuddin said he wished to share his experience and inspire aspiring doctors to achieve their ambition with AUCMS.
.
"We want to send a clear message that it is not the end of the road for SPM and STPM leavers who were unlucky not to secure a place in universities abroad.
.
"AUCMS is the right and affordable alternative for them to achieve their dream."
.
Looking forward, Dr Zainuddin said AUCMS would be offering its very own medical degree programme by the first quarter of next year.
.
AUCMS is also looking into the possibility of setting up an alternative medicine programme.
.
AUCMS deputy chief executive officer Dr Badrul Akmal Hisham Md Yusoff, who is also the dean of Medical Faculty, said all medical and applied sciences programmes offered by the college complied with the Malaysian Quality Agency (MQA) standards.
.
"We make sure that our programmes are handled by highly qualified and experienced teachings staff.
.
Our lecturers comprise both local and foreign talents who had had years of teaching and professional experience in the medical field."
.
Dr Badrul said the students would also be trained to develop their soft skills through various camps and workshops.
.
"We also encourage them to be active in extracurricular activities. In fact, their involvement in these programmes are counted towards their overall credit, as we want to polish their leadership traits."
.
Dr Badrul said AUCMS students were constantly exposed to community services.
.
At least twice a month, AUCMS students participated in community programmes or carried our house-to-house healthcare services for bedridden patients from poor families.
.
"This is part of the on-the-ground exposure that we hope will enhance their personal touch as future doctors."
.
Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) leavers who are interested in AUCMS' medical degree programme may enrol in its one-year pre-medical foundation programme first.
.
They are two intakes for the intensive programme; the January intake by using forecast SPM results and the July intake.
.
Students who completed the the programme with required grades would be able to choose to enrol in any of the four medical degree programmes offered at AUCMS, as well as AUCMS' very own medical programme in near future.
.
Students who holds the pre-medical programme will also be able to apply to further their studies in medical institutions in Indonesia and Russia.
