Alternative medicine programmes in the offing

DSC01366-1THE Allianze University College of Medical Sciences (AUCMS) in Kepala Batas, Penang, plans to introduce 15 new programmes, including alternative medicine by April next year.

Its chief executive officer Datuk Zainuddin Wazir said the alternative medicine programmes included Malay traditional medicine, Chinese traditional medicine and Ayurvedic medicine.

He said the college was is in the process of getting approval for the programmes.

“With the introduction of the new programmes, we expect more students to enrol in our institution,” Zainuddin told reporters at the college’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house last Friday.

Among those present were AUCMS president Tuanku Syed Faizudin Putra Tuanku Syed Sirajudin Jamalullail who is the Raja Muda of Perlis, and his consort, Raja Puan Muda Perlis Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, Penang Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas and his consort Toh Puan Majimor Shariff.

Zainuddin said the college currently had about 2,500 students and the enrolment was expected to increase to about 5,000 by the end of the year.

He said AUCMS would make compulsory for each student to follow the new curriculum as a requirement to pass the diploma and degree level that is music, theatre and culture.
