DSC00950Wearing colourful national costumes and sitting on the floor, ‘bersila’, side by side with other races, listening to patriotic songs in a big hall can  enlighten your spirit of ‘Merdeka’.

But when a group of students marched in, accompanied by the drum roll while holding our beloved national flag the ‘Jalur Gemilang’, with one of them step in ahead and pledging out loud  our ‘Rukun Negara’, you would definitely  feel the spirit of kemerdekaan.

In the spirit of loving the country combined with the mixture of feeling sad remembering Malaya, fighting for its independence, makes one realize how hard it was for us to gain our independence.

We are proud to be born as a Malaysian. We love this country so much that we will do anything just to make this country the safest and most peaceful place in the world.

Allianze University College of Medical Sciences (AUCMS) had definitely made it. With the theme ‘Kemerdekaan’, they had once again organized their ‘buka puasa’ ceremony held at the Dewan Millenium, Kepala Batas, Penang.

DSC00918Its project director Ahmad Fauzi Abdul Jalil said that they had chose the theme as this year’s Ramadhan month falls on the same month of Malaysia’s Independence Day.

“Every year Malaysian celebrate our ‘Hari Kemerdekaan’ on 31 August but for the Muslims, Ramadhan don’t always falls on the same month as the Independence day, therefore AUCMS feels that  this year, it calls for a  double celebration,” he said.

He added by saying that for the muslims, during Ramadhan month they are independent as in they are free from spirits.

The college Chief Executive officer, Dato’ Dr Zainuddin Md Wazir reminded those who attended the function, the staffs and students, that although we are living in a peaceful country we should not forget those unfortunate people outside this country.

DSC00968“AUCMS had launched our own donation for the Pakistan flood victim as we felt sorry for them who had to suffer due to the devastation flood in their country recently.

“By donating our sum of money even small, it could help provide enough food and shelter for them,” he said.

During that event, AUCMS contributed a mock cheque of amount RM5, 000 to the Pakistan flood victim. The College also save out RM 1,000 each, to  five mosques and RM500 each to four suraus around Kepala Batas.

The event which was attended by about 1,400 well-wishers was also attended by the Perlis  Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail and his consort the Raja Puan Muda Perlis Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen Akashah who is also the President of AUCMS.

Earlier that day, the whole AUCMS family had co-operated in cooking the ‘bubur lambuk’ and was distributed it among those present and also to the neighborhood.
