THE Diploma in Medical Sciences offered by the Allianze University College of Medical Sciences (AUCMS) allows students to start at an entry level and upon completion, enter into a full medical degree course. It is approved by the Ministry of Higher Education.
It is also an alternative for students who do not qualify for the pre-medical programme but aim to pursue the medical degree programmes and other medical degree in health sciences such as physiotherapy and pharmacy.
The programme takes three years, which are divided into six semesters.
The diploma also qualifies its graduates to work in the medical industry and hospitals.
The diploma graduates will be given priority to work in AUCMS hospitals that will be ready in a few years, or with its affiliated teaching hospitals approved by the Ministry of Health i.e. Hospital Tuanku Fauziah in Kangar, three hospitals in Kedah, Hospital Langkawi, Hospital Kulim, Hospital Baling, Hospital Kepala Batas and Hospital Taiping. The course is read at the AUCMS campus in Penang.
The learning methods used are lectures, tutorials and clinical training. Students will be able to apply the scientific approach and critical thinking to problem solving and decision making, and be able to work collaboratively within a multi-professional team with integrity and enthusiasm and to assume a leadership role when appropriate.
AUCMS specialises in Medicine and Allied Health Sciences.
Other programmes offered by AUCMS are Doctor of Medicine, Pre-Medical Studies, Diploma in Physiotherapy, Diploma in Nursing, Diploma in Pharmacy and Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology.
For the Doctor of Medicine, one can choose between the twinning programme with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) or with Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), which is one of the oldest universities in Medan.
All the courses are approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and monitored by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency.
PTPTN and MARA loans are available while outstanding students would be considered for special study awards from AUCMS as well as the Dr Sheikh Muszaphar – AUCMS Scholarship Fund.
The AUCMS campus is equipped with a library, laboratories, auditorium, lecture theatres, seminar rooms, cafeteria, cyber cafe and a student hostel.
