The Perak government has offered local and foreign institutions of higher learning (IPT) to open their branch campus in the state.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir said the state government would cooperate with interested IPT to pick suitable sites to develop their campus.
"We plan to have many IPT located in Perak to make it a major producer of human capital for the local and international market," he said after launching Taiping Hospital as a training hospital for Allianze University College of Medical Sciences (AUCMS), National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG) and University College Cork (UCC).
Zambry said IPT planning to open campus in Perak include International Premier University, a medical university from India while others were interested in siting them in Tronoh and the Northern Corridor Economic region (NCER).
Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) had announced plans to open a third campus in Bagan Datoh after the ones in Seri Iskandar and Tapah.
