Even though we already have the basic knowledge and skills about BLS, we also need to update the knowledge because from time to time the practices is keep changing due to the current trend and related issues.
With this concern, on September 8th, 2011, Faculty of Nursing, Allianze University College of Medical Sciences (AUCMS) in collaboration with Basic Life Support (BLS) Team from Hospital Abdul Halim, Sungai Petani has organized workshop of Basic Life Support (BLS) for final year nursing student, AUCMS. This workshop held at Lecture Demo Room, Faculty of Nursing. There were 34 participants who attended this workshop.
Participants were introducing theoretically regarding performing Basic Life Support (BLS) including Cardiac Compression Resuscitation (CPR) and airway rescue and also video of performing CPR. After the theory, the workshop was proceed by practical session of Basic Life Support (BLS). This practical are, adult chocking, adult CPR, infant chocking, and infant CPR. Participants also were introduced with Automated External Defibrillator (AED) machine during emergency.
At the end of the session, all participants were given a theory test. The result showed four participants got full marks and 100% of the participants successfully passed in the test. This proved that all participants were interested and gained benefit from this workshop. This workshop was completed successfully.
